A lecture “Art Deco: Art and Fashion of the 20s” will be held in the Riga hotel “Pullman”

On March 25th, the Pullman Riga Old Town Hotel will be the venue for a lecture on fashion of the 20s of the 20th century.

This time, the lecture will address questions about the emergence of the Art Deco style, why this particular style can be considered as the epitome of luxury, elegance and glamour, how New York became the capital of Art Deco, what are “flapper-girls” and how did they live in the era of jazz, dance and post-war freedom.

The attendees will learn about the paintings of Tamara de Lempitski, illustrations of the fashionable Russian emigrant Erte for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, sculptures by Dmitry Chiparus, haute couture graphics by Georges Barbiere, and one of the first interior designers – Emile Roulemann.

Lecturer of the evening: Daria Sabitova – A Viennese art historian, master of art history, the creator of the art club Art Salon Vienna.
